Dates

  • 1821, November 1

Scope and Contents

Letter of 30th acknowledged with its power of attorney from Yate Mention of certificates for proprietors, with comment of response for shares made by Remsen, Thomson, and Howe. Whole debt to Bank of New York paid yesterday. Now negotiating with Gibbons and if we get his suit out of way there is nothing to fear. Mr. R.L.L. and Mr. Dale ought to make J.R. Livingston comply with conditions. If this is done, Gibbons will aid in support of the New York grant, and thus a powerful auxiliary will be secured where you have now a powerful enemy. Need for placing orders now to have live oak cut in Georgia if a new boat is to be built winter after next. Mention of copper and coal; punctuality of Line. Dale in town, intends going to France with his family.
