Scope and Contents

Summary: Real and fictitious case records of New Jersey Emergency Relief Administration clients, used for educational purposes in the training programs. The case files illustrate workers' skill or difficulty in handling clients in areas such as evaluation, referral, intake and chronic health problems, and sometimes include a cover-sheet written by a supervisor or instructor which points out the teaching value of the record. Included with the administrative forms filled out by the case worker and hand- or typewritten recordings of conversations with clients and their families and correspondence to and from friends, doctors, bank officers, lawyers and others overseeing aspects of the client's welfare.
