IX. LAKE IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT FILES, 1970-1995

Summary: Documents the proposal and activities regarding the Mohegan Lake Improvement District and the Mohegan Lake Improvement Association. This series contains minutes, budgets, correspondence, and newspaper clippings documenting the formation of a lake improvement district for Mohegan Lake property that was approved in 1975. Nine homeowner associations formed the Mohegan Lake Improvement Association in 1970 in an effort to protect and maintain Lake Mohegan and the beach property.

This series includes incoming and outgoing correspondence addressed to Ken Saum, the president of the Mohegan Lake Improvement Association, and Walter Schwartz, the representative for the Mohegan Colony Association. Also included in this series are notes, reports, related correspondence, and membership lists used as research material for the lake improvement project.

This series also includes three issues of newsletters published by the Mohegan Lake Improvement District (1982-1989)
