Scope and Contents

Summary: Documentation of administrative procedures and governance performed by the Mohegan Colony Board of Trustees and elected officers. The records primarily relate to the sale and distribution of property among residents. Included in this series are the certificate of incorporation and constitution (1923), as well as minutes and correspondence of the House Committee related to property disputes, land transfers, and delinquent payments. Also included in the series are property deeds, membership lists, and proposals for membership.

Of particular interest is a 1928 letter from colony resident Moritz Jagendorf that hints at a hostile relationship with the colony's financial secretary.
