Scope and Contents
Summary: Documentation of the artistic career of Janet Indick. The records pertain to publicity about Indick's work, awards, fellowships and grants, exhibitions, artistic and other organizations, and the sale and donation of her artworks. Included in the records are correspondence (as well as recommendation letters), fellowship and grant applications, newspaper clippings, exhibition promotional materials, donation and consignment agreements, award certificates, and organizational membership directories. Featured institutions include the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA), the Interfaith Forum on Art and Architecture (IFRAA), the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and the National Endowment of the Arts. Several New Jersey art spaces are represented, including the Morris Museum, the Bergen Museum of Art and Science, and Grounds for Sculpture.
Among the documents in this series are a few sheets of photos depicting Indick with her sculpture, and one photo of Indick with other women artists, including Judy Chicago, at a NAWA luncheon in May 1997.
Several folders record Indick's participation in and support of Jewish institutions, including Hadassah, Yeshiva University Museum, North Shore Synagogue in Syosset, NY and Temple Beth Rishon in Wyckoff, NJ. Materials document Indick's donation of artworks to these institutions, participation in Jewish-centered art exhibits, and the Jewish themes that run through some of her sculpture.
