COST ANALYSIS DOCUMENTS,, 1946-1961

Dates

  • 1946-1961

Scope and Contents

Summary: Documentation of production costs and estimated and approved product prices, formerly bound, kept by cost analysis engineer P. F. Cooper and his successor Charles Harris. The documents list cost and pricing information for various products, such as stock and special service dinnerware, giftware/artware and industrial gifts, as well as costs for undecorated whiteware, decals and raw materials. Included in the series are memoranda, internal price lists, cost analysis worksheets, and occasional consumer catalogs and pricelists.

One sequence of documents, entitled "Pattern Price Record," consists solely of mimeographed price lists, without any cost analysis information. The lists illustrate price changes from 1928 to 1945, with the majority of changes ceasing after June 1941, presumably the partial result of actions taken by the Office of Price Administration during World War II.

Scattered throughout the series are memoranda pertaining to china services ordered by prominent New Jersey individuals, including Mary Roebling and Dr. Mason W. Gross.
