Scope and Contents
Summary: Photographs, letters written to Nakao by her personal acquaintances, and other miscellanea. Included are photographs taken or obtained by Nakao in San Francisco, when she made a trip to meet Karl G. Yoneda, a communist and Katayama researcher; in Katayama's hometown; at the party for ceasing publication of Japan/New York; at her grave and at the special ceremony after her death and funeral. Also included are personal letters; the photocopy of the Certificate of Authority for her publisher Vega Japan New York Publishing, issued by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance; and newspaper clippings of the review of her book, Onna hitori de kurasu New York.
Among the photographs are some given by Yoneda to Nakao, including images of Katayama and his family and of his gravestone in Moscow; photographs taken by Nakao in San Francisco such as the house where Katayama lived; and photographs given to Nakao as well as taken by her in Katayama's hometown, featuring Honzanji, the temple where Katayama studied. Other items include a book about Katayama written in Russian, a sample of his handwriting, and photographs of his funeral in Moscow.
