Summary:Reprints of speeches given by Ward in Congress, broadsides, maps, pamphlets and other printed matter. Among the documents in this series is a tract entitled "The Shorter Catechism of Negro Equality" which blames the Democrats for steps taken to give equality to blacks, a broadside containing the first annual message of Governor Marcus L. Ward, an· October 1861 appeal by the Sanitary Commission to the Loyal Woman of America", a manifesto of the National Union Committee replying to the anti-Lincoln, antiwar Chicago Convention and maps of Newark, NJ and New York.
