Scope and Contents

Summary: Correspondence, receipts, tax assessment forms, bills of sale, leases, drafts of speeches. This series includes documents relating to Ward's personal life and to his personal business, documents related to his term as Governor of New Jersey, letters relating to the 1867 meeting of the National Union Committee, a few letters related to his term in Congress and letters delivered to Box 582 thanking Ward for his anonymous service of paying for the postage due on letters for which postage had not been paid in full.
