Scope and Contents

Summary: Monthly balance sheets, which make up the bulk of this series, depict "the assets, liabilities, and capital of a business organization" (Prentice-Hall Dictionary, p. 77). The booklets are income statements, prepared quarterly by Adolph Fox, a New York City C.P.A. closely involved with the sale of NMSCo stock in the mid-thirties. An income statement is "a summary of the income, and expenses of a business, in classified form, showing the net income or loss for a specified period" (Prentice-Hall Dictionary, p. 305).
