Scope and Contents
Summary: Realia boxes contain records such as certificates, plaques, original campaign promotions, etc. The records commemorate Lautenberg's achievements and reflect a variety of causes and organizations that he championed. These include campaign issues such as support for women's reproductive rights, increased awareness for the funding of HIV/AIDS research and funding for those with HIV/AIDS, increased education funding, support for prisoners of war, and environmental protection. Oversize boxes contain various albums documenting Lautenberg's 1982 campaign (i.e., original press items), a World War II veterans' reunion, a glass Seder plate, and items sent to Lautenberg by New Jersey students, etc. These items were collected to promote and document Lautenberg's interaction with the various communities and demographics of New Jersey.
