FOREIGN VISTAS
Scope and Contents
Summary: In this series are 45 works, primarily collagraphs, but including lithographs, woodcuts and etchings, in which the artist has depicted landscape and town scenes from his international travels. Among these are a series of somewhat stylized images from the Balearic Islands in Spain, numerous depictions of Italian landscapes and towns, and some from Eastern Europe. Prints in a similar style to the Spanish Island prints are also located in the IMAGINARY CITIES AND TOWN SCENES series, as they lack features that identify the location. These are generally large pieces, with some housed in eight folders in a large flat box, two are mounted and displayed in Alexander Library and the remainder are Oversized and housed in six folders in a Map Case Drawer. Several works are in each folder, separated and protected by interleaving paper. Arrangement is by title of work. Each work is further designated with a Rutgers identifying Ross number that indicates box, folder, and unique item number. Reference is made to related works in many cases, as well as to collage plates or woodblocks in the library collection. Measurements are of the paper size, unless otherwise noted, and are height x width in centimeters.
