DRAWINGS
Scope and Contents
Summary: In this series are 51 works, primarily in black ink. In these drawings, John Ross explored Italian scenes, New England seaside towns and abstract studies of scenes and architectural materials. Some scenes are revisited in his prints and collagraphs, including a series on armored knights. These are generally large pieces, housed in 11 folders in a large flat box. Several works are in each folder, separated and protected by interleaving paper. Arrangement is by title of work. Each work is further designated with a Rutgers identifying Ross number that indicates box, folder, and unique item number. Reference is made to related works in many cases, as well as to collage plates or woodblocks in the library collection. Measurements are of the paper size, unless otherwise noted, and are height x width in centimeters.
