WALLACE NETHERY (see Dawson's Book Shop)

Scope and Contents

Wallace Nethery is the imprint of Wallace Nethery of southern California. In addition to publishing 25 miniature books, Nethery printed several miniature books for Dawson's Book Shop, many of which he wrote. Nethery and his wife, Corry, made several trips to Europe seeking out places associated with Lamb's life. These experiences are the subject of several of his miniature books. When Nethery retired from his library career, he became more active in his private press printing. His print shop was located in his home. Annual Christmas greetings from the Netherys were often in the form of miniature books. He continued to do his masterful work until shortly before his death in late 1996. Corry Nethery, his wife, published Pastorale (1997), a tale of Wallace Nethery's youth that he had planned to publish prior to his death…Nethery's scarcest miniature book, Relative Pronouns, was printed in an edition of 50 copies, but he could not secure permission from the copyright holders and did not publish this book. Pall Bohne (Bookhaven Press) bound seven copies, however, some of which were included in an auction to raise money for the Miniature Book Society." (Bradbury 162)
