REM MINIATURES
Scope and Contents
REM Miniatures is the imprint of Robert E. Massmann of New Britain, Connecticut. He is one of the six publishers of the renaissance of miniature book publishing and collecting in the U.S. Elise, his wife, does much of the hand-coloring. Massmann’s two sons also play key production roles: Ernest “Ernie” Massmann is a professional artist who has illustrated most of the books and Richard “Rick” A. Massmann does the computer typography. Massmann’s books explore the form of the book in unusual ways, stretching it as far as possible. He has done everything involved in this process but print, like design, typesetting for offset lithography, layouts – including original art work by other artists and binding. (Bradbury 236)
Robert E. Massmann was also the Director of the Elihu Burritt Library, Central Connecticut State College, and published miniature books with that imprint.
