Scope and Contents

Alexander Carl Wirth published miniature books under his Proof Press imprint in Baltimore, Maryland from 1966 to 1970. Wirth's sixty years of printing experience before publishing his first miniature book started while working as a printer's devil in a Baltimore printshop at age 15. This was followed by barnstorming around the country working short stints at small town shops…. Wirth did everything but write his books. He designed, typeset, printed and bound 13 miniature books.
