MOSAIC PRESS

Scope and Contents

Mosaic Press is the imprint under which Miriam Owen Irwin of Cincinnati, Ohio publishes primarily dollhouse scale miniature books. She published her first miniature book in 1976. Irwin does everything but the printing for her books, even writing some of them. Her books are printed on acid-proof paper and hand-sewn. Bindings are most often cloth boards, but several are in gilt leather. Deluxe editions include front cover inlays, such as a toy soldier or a miniature pistol. Most Mosaic Press books consist of original material written by authors recruited by Irwin. Copies of many titles are bound as orders are received and so do not include a statement of the number of copies in the edition. Irwin has provided the number of copies issued for some of the books that are out of print. (Bradbury 155)
