OTHER ARTISTS - SLIDES
Scope and Contents
Summary: The series consists of slides documenting the work of other artists and international museum and gallery shows, and craft work that Glashausser incorporated into her art and teaching. The subjects are wide-ranging, including the work of well-known artists like Joseph Beuys and Magdalena Abramovicz, exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, textile exhibitions in Munich and Lausanne, craftsmen’s baskets, sheep shearing, fabric workshops, etc. There are many slides of the work of her colleagues in the textile arts. This series forms a catalog of Glashausser’s artistic inspirations and instructional methods. There is some overlap with other series in this collection, as she used the art that interested her and the places she went to see the art both for her own interest and for her classes. In addition, the series ARTWORK – PHOTOGRAPHS has some overlap with this series in that it contains proof sheets and negatives that may also have photographs of work by other artists.
This series is arranged alphabetically by artist last name or by exhibition title. As received by the library, the slides were in labeled slide boxes in no discernable order. An effort has been made to note her box labels and to retain, where possible, the original order of the slides by any given artist. If there were no clear arrangement, the slides of each artist were arranged chronologically using either the slide development date and slide number or a handwritten “date of work.” In some cases, a series of slides represents shows or exhibitions containing slides of the works of artists who have their own folders. These slides are kept with the show or exhibit, rather than moved to the artist’s folder. A number of artists with limited representation in the collection have been grouped together under the heading Various Artists, in which the slides for those artists is arranged chronologically. The artists represented in Various Artists folders are as follows: Julie Anixter, Carolyn Berry, Betsy Bess, Madelleine Bosscher, Marguerite Caran, Jane Carr, Muriel Castanis, Kathy Constantinides, Kris Dey, Anne Dobek, Mary Ann Gillies, Nancy Guay, Fred Gutzeit, Catherine Hall, Judith Hand, Napoleon Jones Henderson, Marti Holmes, Peter and Ritzi Jacobi, Margie Katz, Susan Kittredge, Malka Kutnick, Richard Landis, Ragnhild Langlet, Judy Lehner, Eileen Linder, Bonnie Lucas, Marina Lutinski, Margaret Miller, Pamela Mischlove, Elke Moore, Sandra Newman, Walter Nottingham, Gail Resen, M Ribar, Ed Rossbach, Rocco Scary, Eileen Spikol, Gary Trentham, Barbara Valenta, Arthur Weybe, Gayle Wimmer, Alice Wise.
