Scope and Contents

CORRESPONDENCE includes an 1862 Civil War letter from George C. Lamson to his cousin Sarah E. Lamson, report card and various clippings from HAW's high school years, an exchange of correspondence between Isabel Williams (HAW's mother) and House candidate Clifford Case, Isabel Williams's Teacher's Contract, and correspondence from Senator John Kennedy to HAW's uncle. Also included are various correspondences of HAW and his family, ranging from 1934-1975. Some correspondence is incomplete. Materials other than correspondence, such as clippings, found with correspondence were retained in this series with their contextual documents.

CORRESPONDENCE is arranged chronologically, with select items, including the the Civil War letter, HAW's high school years, and his mother's correspondence in their own folder. The order was imposed by the archivist; there was no original order.
