Scope and Contents

MEMORABILIA include various items, such as front pages of newspapers, Presidential inauguration invitations, correspondence, poems, brochures, commemorative mementoes, rubber stamps, and more. Many of the items were originally framed but were removed from the frames by the archivists because of preservation issues. The series includes several pieces of correspondence from Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, John F Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson from a "This is Your Life" 50th birthday album. The series includes the pens used by Presidents from Kennedy to Carter to sign various bills and the displays for the pens from HAW's office.

Appraisal and Discard Information

A limited number of memorabilia objects were accepted into the collection by Rutgers, based generally on the closeness of their connection to HAW and his career, or to New Jersey.
