Arrangement

The arrangement of General Campaign for the most part was kept in original order and arranged by campaign years. However, much of the materials were originally stored in disarray and without much organization. Miscellaneous campaign material not related to HAW was placed at the end of this sub-series. Some 1976 campaign material, found after the rest of the series had been processed, was placed at the end of the sub-series.

Additional campaign-related correspondence can be found in several other series, including SUBJECT CORRESPONDENCE; GENERAL, ADMINISTRATIVE, & PUBLIC RELATIONS CORRESPONDENCE; CENTRAL CORRESPONDENCE; and LAUDATORY CORRESPONDENCE series.

Appraisal and Discard Information

Generally, loose newsprint clippings, mailing and other lists consisting of just names and addresses, or unrelated and duplicate papers found in the files were discarded. Some publications without useful context were removed and sent to a Special Collections and University Archives bibliographer for disposition. Otherwise, all material was retained.
