Scope and Contents
CAMPAIGN FILES includes a variety of materials relating principally to HAW's bids for the Senate, with a smaller quantity concerned with his House campaign. HAW was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1953, filling an un-expired term. He was elected again for a full term in 1954. HAW's first campaign and subsequent win for New Jersey Senator was in 1958 and he was re-elected in 1964, 1970, and 1976. Although CAMPAIGN FILES contains information primarily about HAW's campaigns there are some materials about other subjects and political candidates, as found in the sub-series Back our Bob and Robert Barrie Files.
CAMPAIGN FILES is organized in three sub-series as shown below:
