Scope and Contents

Voting History includes computer-generated reports of HAW's voting record as analyzed by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), computer-generated reports of HAW's votes generated by the Democratic Policy Committee, booklets created by the Democratic Policy Committee in which HAW's votes were manually recorded, and reports prepared by the Legislative Reference Service concerning HAW's votes. The sub-series also includes some administrative notes and Democratic Policy Committee reports of Senate votes not specific to HAW. The sub-series includes no HAW voting history prior to the 91st Congress (1969-70).

Arrangement

Oversized material is boxed separately from the rest of the material in the sub-series. Within each box, Democratic Policy Committee material is followed by DSCC material, which is followed by Legislative Reference Service material. Any administrative notes related to those materials are arranged with them.

The date range used in the container list was taken from the date the voting history report was produced, which often is a date later than the Congressional term of the subject votes; in these instances, the pertinent Congressional term is reflected in the folder description. For documents lacking a production date, the date of the Congressional term was used in the container list.

Related Series

This sub-series includes only those standalone voting history documents prepared outside of HAW's office. Any voting histories found in other office file series were retained there, notably in LEGISLATIVE REFERENCE FILES, which includes HAW's House voting record for 1954-1956, and CLIPPINGS & INFORMATION FILES, which includes some material on HAW's voting record from the 1960s.
