Scope and Contents

Migratory Labor Legislation includes, primarily, staff notes, bills, fact sheets, status reports, hearings background, etc. concerning the development of a package of HAW bills in the early 1960s directed at the improvement of working and living conditions of migratory workers. These initiatives included crew leader registration, education, minimum wage, transportation/workforce stabilization, housing, and more).

Arrangement

The sub-series is arranged by type of material. The first set includes material on legislative bills, arranged by bill number, then general legislation. These are followed by material from hearings and field trips then correspondence and subject folders in alphabetical order. Material found at a later date was placed at the end of the end of the container list. Material without a reference number includes complete files of original records (including correspondence from New Jersey constituents and duplicate carbon copies) which Rutgers was permitted to retain.
