PAINTINGS

Summary:This series consists of five oil paintings ranging in date from the 1970s to the mid 1980s and broadly treating the theme of discarded objects. Potpourri 1 and Potpourri 2 are from a series of at least four Potpourri paintings and Things Fall Apart / The Center Cannot Hold is from a series Flying Objects. All of these are large works and are framed and on display in Alexander Library. None of the works is titled, though all are signed. Most titles were assigned based on a list provided by the artist’s family and confirmed on the artist’s website. Things Fall Apart / The Center Cannot Hold is also listed in a catalog of the artist’s works, Al Blaustein - Late Works, cited above. Dates were provided by the artist’s family. Arrangement in this listing is by title of work. Each work is further designated with a Rutgers identifying Blaustein number. Photo images of the works are in Box 1, Folder 4. Measurements are of the framed size, and are height x width to the nearest .5 centimeter.
