Summary: Certificates and proclamations, mostly oversized, documenting Byrne's career as a lawyer, judge, politician and United States Army Airman. The certificates include appointments as an attorney and judge, nominations for governor, military awards [awarded by non-military agencies], earned diplomas [e.g. Princeton University], honorary law degrees, and certificates of appreciation [e.g. Great Navy of the State of Nebraska]. Included amongst the certificates are honorary legislative resolutions [e.g. State Assembly/Board of Education], a gubernatorial executive order renaming Lebanon State Forest and prose formatted attachments [e.g. non-certificate] accompanying or substituting awards and degrees.
Among the documents in this series are requests for blessings and indulgences from the Pope.
