Scope and Contents

Summary: Included in this folder are five letters dating from 1834 to 1838, largely written by family members to Jacob Outwater, who was the son of Captain John Outwater, and grandson of Jacob Outwater and his wife M. DeBertholf. One letter, dated 1838, begins "Dear Grandpop," and contains the amusing comment, "Matilda has gone to meeting today and left me to write letters and take care of the babies and the wigwam so you may know that I have a hard days work on't."(Box 2, folder 7) The letter was written by Jacob's grandson Richard Vreeland.
