Letters Received

Scope and Contents

Summary: John Outwater's papers include a letter dated November 11, 1812, in which Adam Boyd, then a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from New Jersey, discusses developments in the contemporaneous War of 1812. The letter was sent from Washington D.C., and discusses the difficulty experienced in obtaining troops. Also mentioned is "Monroe's Treaty," which may perhaps be a reference to the Monroe-Pinkney Treaty of 1806.

Also included in this folder are a largely illegible letter dated 1780, a letter dated 1813, and an "An account of the sale of Real Estate of Derrick Westervelt," signed by Henry Brinckerhoff and dated 1811 [?].
