Summary: Files of the Community Manager, the federal government's official representative in Jersey Homesteads.

Includes primarily correspondence between the Community Manager and Resettlement/Farm Security Administration officials (1935-1942) regarding the WPA recreation program in Jersey Homesteads, as well as reports by WPA receation program instructors (1939-1942). Of particular interest are five "sociograms" (1935), diagrams that link and group certain residents together using various personal and proximity data to determine which groups will interact harmoniously.

Subjects of the correspondence include classes and activities set up through the recreation program, instructors Shep Wolman and Edith Brown, parks and playgrounds, the nursery school, library, demonstration house, the Jewish War Veterans of the United States and other community groups.
