Summary:Newsletters, memorial books, programs and broadsides from Roosevelt's Conservative synagogue, founded 1938.
Includes Books of Remembrance (1959-1981), the annual memorial book for the Holy Days; the Congregation Anshei Roosevelt Newsletter (1958-1960); the Sisterhood Anniversary Ad Journal (1966) to commemorate the anniversary of the founding of the Congregation, and the sisterhood newsletter The Yenta Hotline, renamed the Patchwork News (1975).
Services were originally held over a shop. The synagogue moved to a new building designed by Nathan Nadler in 1956. Affiliated with the synagogue was the Congregation Anshei Roosevelt Sisterhood, the purpose of which was to raise money, encourage traditional holiday get-togethers, and help the community; it was open to all women in the community.
