  • 1923-1998

Scope and Contents

Summary: Minutes of the Executive Board and the General Membership are interfiled. Most of the minutes are unbound, with the exception of four string bound texts (1923-1927, 1928-1932, 1933-1937, and 1943-1947). These bound volumes contain the executive committee and general meeting minutes, and also treasurer's records, annual reports, by-laws, lists of committees, and resolutions.

Of particular interest are the minutes of the first meeting about the organization of the club (1923), the beginning of the student loan (1926-27), equal pay legislation (1934), the adoption of a new constitution (1930), a woman's club asking the BPW to form a committee to look into a building for all local women's clubs (1933), the formation of the Education loan fund committee - standing committee (1930), an invitation to transfer the four remaining Perth Amboy Club members to the New Brunswick Club (1935), and the reports from the State Board meeting (1950/51 and 1964/65).
