Scope and Contents

Summary: The Membership Ledgers (1917-1927 and 1941-1945) comprise two volumes and one folder. Arranged alphabetically by name and thereunder chronologically, the entries in these ledgers record a member's financial obligations to the synagogue. Also included is a list of oil donations made in 1944.

The Statements of Members' Accounts (1920, 1926 and 1967) comprise one folder. They represent a few scattered financial statements of monies owed to the Congregation by a member. The statements from the 1920s are in Yiddish.

The Day Books (1927-1930 and circa 1952-circa 1954) comprise two volumes. Arranged chronologically, these books record cash receipts and disbursements of the synagogue by date of transaction. Apparently, these transactions were later transferred to the monthly cash books.

The Cash Books (1923-1930 and 1936-1940) comprise three oversize volumes. Arranged chronologically, these account books record cash receipts and disbursements of the synagogue on a monthly basis.

The Check Stubs (1939-1945) comprise two volumes. Arranged chronologically, the stubs record checks drawn on the synagogue's checking account.

The Bills Paid (1955-1962) comprise fourteen folders of invoices alphabetized by the vendor's name.

The Rabbinical Contracts (August 9, 1955 and circa 1988) comprise two folders. Arranged chronologically, they pertain to the employment of Rabbi Green for the period of one year and to the employment of Rabbi Harrison Kletzel for the High Holy Days during 1988.

The Financial Statements (1994 and 1996) comprise one folder. Arranged chronologically, these statements summarize the Congregation's expenses in 1993-1994 and in late 1995.
