FORUMS, 1975-1978
Dates
- 1975-1978
Scope and Contents
Summary: Documentation of activities relating to district forums, which were a fairly unique feature of Congressman Maguire's tenure in the House. Included are announcements (for bulk mailing), agenda, permits for use of facilities, survey forms, post-forum evaluations by Bruce B. Maguire, blank forms for question-answer periods, correspondence, newsclippings, notes, and budget materials. Forum issues include energy, Southeast Asia, privacy, hunger, cancer, human rights, and others. The first folder in FORUMS contains a list of forums which appears to be complete. The FORUMS files themselves are apparently not complete, though.
FORUMS also documents the participation of a wide variety of experts and includes some of their printed rematks, as well as of those who did not attend – but which were deemed relevant.
Supplemented by PHOTOGRAPHS and NEWSCLIPPINGS, a better sense of the importance of Congressman Maguire's forums can be gained.
Staff members involved in. forum activities include Bruce B. Maguire as coordinator, Congressman Maguire as participant and resource leader, and Mrs. Mary Lou Petitt as Moderator.
Further information on forums may be found in SUBJECT FILES under "Forum Nailings" and "[Political]: Forums," and in AUDIO RECORDINGS and PRESS RELEASES.
