SPONSORED AND COSPONSORED BILLS, 1975-1980

Dates

  • 1975-1980

Scope and Contents

Summary: Documentation of the legislative activities of Congressman Maguire throughout the three Congresses he participated in. Bills regarding environmental hazards, medical technology, children's health, New Jersey television, cancer and various other issues are included. The envelopes contain very few supplemental materials--a sense of the progress of a bill cannot be adequately gained from this series alone. Hence, SUBJECTS FILE and the Congressional Record statements in SPEECHES, STATEMENTS AND TESTIMONY should also be consulted.

Two types of documents preceding the actual bills provide a key to the Congressman's legislative activities. The first is three editions of the "Legislative Profile" (put out by the House of Representatives) which cover only the 95th and 96th Congresses. The second is a brief list of "Major Maguire Sponsorships". (put out by his office) which is a selected list inclusive of all three Congresses. A third document, not in this series, that provides a good overview of Congressman Maguire's legislative activities is the "Annotated Chronology of the Policy Commitments of Rep. Andrew Maguire" (compiled by unidentified staff members) found in the ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT'S FILE.

The numerical bills appear to include all bills solely sponsored by Congressman Maguire.
