The Young Israel South Orange Jewish Center of South Orange, New Jersey was founded in 1922 as the Young Israel of Newark. Young Israel of Newark, an orthodox congregation, is part of the national Young Israel movement. Records acquired from Young Israel of Newark date from 1926-1981. Records after 1981 were not collected. The documentation is fairly well distributed over the span of years represented, but concentrates on the period between 1940 and 1970.
