Abstract:
The papers of Mabel Smith Douglass document the life and career of a prolific educator, who worked to gain educational equality for women in the early twentieth century. The papers consist of materials accrued during Douglass’ life as a student at Barnard College, as a member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs, and as Dean of the New Jersey College for Women (what would become Douglass College of Rutgers University). Abstract:
The New Jersey Folk Festival is an annual event run as a class by the Rutgers University American Studies Department under the supervision of Professor Angus Gillespie. Although some sound recordings are included, the folk festival's records primarily consist of correspondence, reports, background documents, photographs and notes created by the festival's staff; consequently, the documents in the collection pertain to the folk festival as an event and as a class.
