Graphite pencil drawing. Portrait of a woman holding a child. Sketchy outlines are extremely light and half-drawn, reaching only to the elbow of the woman and to the waist of the child. The woman’s left arm is positioned so that it appears to be holding part of the baby that has not been drawn. On the verso are preliminary sketches of the woman’s hand and the baby’s nose.

Ink and wash drawing (with watercolor and graphite pencil). Colored, well-detailed head and neck portrait of a young woman. Pen ink lines are used for the structure of the hair and face. Interest is heightened by the extensive watercolor use – purple, orange, and various pinks and browns. Like many of these portraits, the details falls off significantly the further it gets away from the subject’s head.
